Samsung is expanding its Galaxy AI technology to a broader range of devices, including several older models. After debuting on the Galaxy S24, the AI-powered Circle To Search feature is now set to arrive on the Galaxy A55, A54, A35, and A34, as well as the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Tab S9 FE+. This unexpected move brings advanced AI capabilities to Samsung’s mid-range A-series, which had previously been left out of the AI tech upgrades despite being updated to One UI 6.1.
The addition of Circle To Search to these devices is a significant enhancement, especially considering that the A-series had been excluded from earlier AI updates. Initially, it seemed unlikely that Samsung’s more affordable Galaxy phones would ever receive these advanced features. When asked why certain models hadn’t received the AI suite, Samsung cited compatibility concerns but left the possibility open.
This update raises an interesting point about performance. For instance, the Galaxy A55’s Exynos 1480 chipset is newer than the Exynos 2100 processor found in the base Galaxy S21, which already supports Circle To Search. The A55’s CPU performance is also close to that of the Galaxy S22, which can run nearly all Galaxy AI tools. This suggests that Samsung’s decision may not have been about capability but rather a strategic choice that is now evolving to include its mid-range lineup.
This development is great news for A-series users, who can now look forward to enjoying some of the powerful AI features that have been showcased on Samsung’s flagship devices.
