Nigerian singer Oluwagbemiga Babalola, popularly known as Bigiano, has said the biggest regret in his career his refusal to join the now defunt Mo’Hits Records. In a recent interview with Cool FM, Bigiano shared that at the height of his success with the hit single “Shayo” in 2009, he was invited by D’banj and Don Jazzy to become part of the Mo’Hits family. Despite the allure of joining one of Nigeria’s most influential record labels, Bigiano declined the offer, opting to maintain his independence.

Reflecting on his decision, Bigiano admitted, “I should have just said yes. It would have been a serious problem for this world.” He acknowledged that aligning with Mo’Hits could have propelled his career to greater heights, especially considering the support and camaraderie he experienced within the label.

He recalled the warmth and encouragement from Don Jazzy and D’banj, emphasizing that the opportunity was a golden one that he let slip away.

At the time, Bigiano was riding high on the success of “Shayo,” which earned him multiple award nominations and accolades, including the Sound City Music Video Awards. However, he feared that joining Mo’Hits might limit his autonomy and exposure. In hindsight, he believes that the collective strength and resources of Mo’Hits could have significantly enhanced his visibility and success in the music industry.

The Mo’Hits era, marked by chart-topping hits and a roster of talented artists, remains a defining period in Nigerian music history. Bigiano’s story serves as a poignant reminder of the delicate balance between independence and collaboration in the pursuit of success.
