Ghanaian musician King Paluta’s management has formally petitioned the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA) board, expressing disappointment over the exclusion of his hit song “Makoma” from the 2025 nominations.

In their petition, King Paluta’s management acknowledged the TGMA board’s competence but questioned the decision to exclude “Makoma.” They noted the song was submitted for four categories including Most Popular Song of the Year, Record of the Year, Hiplife Song of the Year, and Songwriter of the Year.

The management emphasized that the song adhered to all moral and ethical standards and urged the board to reconsider its nomination status, seeking a detailed explanation for the omission, aiming to clarify the selection process for the public and stakeholders.

“Makoma” gained significant popularity in 2024, becoming an anthem for the New Patriotic Party’s campaign and resonating widely with music enthusiasts. Despite its prominence, it was overlooked during the nomination process, leading to concerns about the transparency and fairness of the selection criteria.

The petition has sparked discussions among fans and industry observers, highlighting the complexities involved in award nominations and the challenges artists face in gaining recognition. As of now, there has been no public response from the TGMA board regarding the petition.
