FELABRATION 2024: LOOK AND LAUGH. THE MUSICAL CONCERTS!

The week-long event was an extraordinary celebration of music and togetherness. It opened on October 14, 2024, with a heartfelt candlelight vigil honoring Mallam Abdul Okwechime, a cherished friend of the Kuti family and a key organizer of Felabration. Friends and family gathered to pay tribute to his life and contributions, highlighting his lasting impact on the community. The musical concerts and events that followed embodied the spirit of unity and remembrance, making it a truly memorable week for all in attendance.

PERFORMANCES 

The event showcased an impressive lineup of Afrobeats stars, as well as a platform for rising talents to gain exposure and share their artistry. From 7 p.m. until dawn, vibrant music filled the air, creating an atmosphere that only intensified with each act. The audience, bursting with energy, cheered enthusiastically for every performer, creating an atmosphere of unity and passion.

Many artists performed their original works, while several bands, such as ArB, thrilled the crowd with vibrant renditions of Fela’s iconic songs. ArB’s lively, heart-thumping performance was particularly memorable, with each instrumentalist owning their moment on stage.

A true highlight of the event was Made Kuti and The Movement, who left the crowd awestruck. Made’s performance, described as “mesmerizing and mind-blowing,” was a soulful, almost transcendent experience. It was evident that he was inspired by something greater, carrying forward the legacy with deep reverence and commitment. Witnessing such a performance was a privilege, encapsulating the powerful spirit of Afrobeats and the festival itself.

There were many other Amazing Artists like, Oritse Femi, Femi Kuti, Ayo maff, Portable, Slimcase, Lasmid, Small Doctor, Qing Madi to say a few!

The event concluded on October 20, 2024, after a final round of unforgettable music from a lineup of exceptional artists. The atmosphere was filled with gratitude and anticipation as organizers expressed appreciation to the performers, audience, and everyone who helped make the week a success. With promises of an even bigger Felabration in 2025, the event ended on a high note, leaving attendees uplifted and inspired. This year’s celebration was a true homage to Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s legacy, and fans are already looking forward to what’s next.
