Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Tems has addressed the persistent body shaming she faces, this time responding directly to online trolls who have criticized her physique over the past seven years.
In a candid social media post, Tems shared a comment from a critic who had made crude remarks about her body during her performance at the 2025 Roots Picnic festival. She expressed her frustration, stating,
“Okay 7 years in. It’s time to pack it up. I never thought I’d need to say it but you are all weird. ‘It’s small, it’s flat, it’s fat.’ Dog ITS MINE.” She further challenged the critic by saying, “Show me yours first?? See how that feels?”
Tems emphasized that her body is her own and should not be subjected to public scrutiny. She added that she has never hidden her body but chose not to focus on proving or disproving others’ opinions. “The more you don’t like my body the better for me actually,” she concluded.
This isn’t the first time Tems has addressed body shaming. In a previous interview, she revealed that early in her career, she felt pressured by the industry’s focus on her appearance rather than her talent. To combat this, she began wearing baggy clothes to avoid unwanted attention from producers.
Tems’ latest response highlights the ongoing challenges women face regarding body image and the importance of respecting personal boundaries. Her candidness serves as a reminder that every individual has the right to feel comfortable and confident in their own skin.
