In a recent interview on Trending on Hip TV, Nigerian singer and songwriter Lojay expressed his views on the conduct of artists following award show losses. He emphasized that publicly criticizing award shows after not winning is unprofessional and unbecoming of an artist. While acknowledging that emotions can run high, Lojay stressed the importance of maintaining professionalism and not allowing personal feelings to dictate public behavior .

Lojay’s comments come in the wake of the 17th Headies Awards, where several artists, including Shallipopi, voiced their dissatisfaction with the event. Shallipopi, for instance, declared on social media that he would not attend future Headies ceremonies. Despite such reactions, Lojay, who won the Best Male Vocal Performance award at the ceremony, chose to address the matter with a call for decorum rather than public criticism.

Beyond discussing award shows, Lojay also reflected on his career, touching upon the success of his 2020 hit single “Monalisa,” produced by Sarz and featuring Chris Brown. He highlighted his creative process, noting that he prioritizes authenticity and personal expression over catering to listener expectations.

Lojay’s perspective adds to the ongoing conversation about professionalism and conduct within the Nigerian music industry, urging artists to uphold standards that reflect their status and influence.
