In a landmark move to honor the genre’s global evolution, Billboard has unveiled the first installment of its highly anticipated list: The 50 Greatest Afrobeats Songs of All Time. The project, announced on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, aims to chronicle the genre’s rich history and far-reaching cultural influence by highlighting staff-curated picks, 10 songs at a time, until the number one track is revealed.

The weekly countdown promises to be a nostalgic journey for longtime fans and an educational ride for new listeners who are just discovering the global magic of Afrobeats.
