Afrobeats star Ayra Starr has reacted to a viral video that circulated recently, claiming her Roc Nation contract imposed extreme restrictions on her personal life, including banning her from having a boyfriend, starting a family, or making music collaborations without approval.

According to the widely shared clip, her fashion choices and social media posts were also allegedly controlled by the label. But in her signature cheeky tone, Ayra Starr clapped back, jokingly asking fans if they were sure she herself was even aware of these supposed terms.

Does Ayra Starr know about this?” she wrote in response, effectively dismissing the viral content as false.

The video quickly made the rounds on TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter/X, sparking fan outrage and concern over what appeared to be a stifling deal. However, her reaction reassured fans that, while her exact contract details remain private, there’s no evidence she’s being controlled or censored by Roc Nation.

What’s Changed Since the Roc Nation Deal?

Since signing her global management deal with Roc Nation in mid-2025, Ayra Starr has only grown in creative and commercial power. There is no visible shift in her unique fashion style, still bold, edgy, and authentically her, no slowdown in musical collaborations, such as her 2025 single Gimme Dat with Wizkid, a major Afrobeats crossover, continued openness and wit on social media, her tone remains playful, self-assured, and very much unfiltered. In fact, if anything has changed, it’s been her global exposure.

While artist contracts often include guidelines around image and branding, there is no verified information to support the claims made in the viral video. Such clauses if they exist are typically focused on business and brand alignment, not the artist’s personal relationships or autonomy. What’s clear is this, Ayra Starr continues to express herself freely, her personal style, collaborations, and online presence remain uncompromised, she’s having fun, making music, and building a global brand on her own terms.
