Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Asake has shattered yet another record with his new track, “Badman Gangsta” featuring French rapper Tiakola, soaring to the top of the TurnTable Charts, marking his 14th No. 1 single in Nigeria.

“Badman Gangsta” is Asake’s second chart‑topper of 2025, following his appearance on Olamide’s “99” (featuring Seyi Vibez, Young Jonn, and Daecolm). Of his 14 chart‑toppers, 11 came as lead artist, underscoring his ability to deliver hits both independently and in high‑profile collaborations.

Asake rose to prominence in 2022 with his debut EP Ololade and the hit single “Omo Ope.” His debut studio album, Mr Money With The Vibe, followed in September, spawning several chart-topping hits and earning multi-platinum status across digital platforms. In 2023, his second album Work of Art built on that success, featuring “Lonely at the Top”, which holds the record as the longest-running No. 1 song in Nigeria, with 12 consecutive weeks at the summit of the TurnTable Top 100.

Released on August 9, 2024, Asake’s third album Lungu Boy set streaming records on Spotify Nigeria, logging approximately 9.2 million streams on opening day and becoming the biggest opening week for any Nigerian album with around 18.9 million streams.

Within a week, five tracks from Lungu Boy entered the TurnTable Top 100 top ten, and nine songs appeared on the Billboard Afrobeats chart, bringing his total entries to 50—a landmark milestone.

One of many Aske’s wins was being named as Nigeria’s best-selling artist for 2024, making it his third consecutive year holding that title, an unprecedented achievement in the country’s music history. His third album also claimed the best-selling album of 2024 on TurnTable Charts, further confirming his dominance both on the airwaves and in sales.

With 14 No. 1 hits, three consecutive years as Nigeria’s top-selling artist, and a new album on the horizon under his own label, Asake has transcended the status of a breakout star to become the benchmark of modern Afrobeats dominance. His journey is redefining what success looks like in Nigerian music, and globally.
