Burna Boy Becomes the Most Certified Nigerian Artist in France

Grammy-winning Nigerian superstar Burna Boy has achieved a remarkable milestone, becoming the most certified Nigerian artist in France. His latest accomplishment comes with the platinum certification of his hit single “City Boy” by the Syndicat National de l’Édition Phonographique (SNEP), marking his ninth song to reach this prestigious status in the country.

Released as part of his seventh studio album, I Told Them, “City Boy” has resonated deeply with audiences, particularly in France, where Burna Boy’s influence continues to grow. This latest certification solidifies his position as the most certified Nigerian artist in France, surpassing previous records held by other artists.

Burna Boy’s journey to this achievement includes several notable certifications, including Last Last which has a Diamond certification, On The Low with Platinum certification, Gbona with Platinum certification, YE with Platinum certification, City Boy with Platinum certification.

Additionally, his collaborations have also garnered significant recognition, Donne-Moi L’accord, A 2019 collaboration with French-Congolese artist Dadju, which earned a platinum certification in 2025 and Alone, A track from the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack, which received a gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Beyond his success in France, Burna Boy’s influence extends globally. In 2024, he made history as the first artist to appear on the cover of the newly launched Billboard France magazine, further cementing his status in the European market.

Looking ahead, Burna Boy is set to release his eighth studio album, No Sign of Weakness, in 2025. One of the album’s lead single, “Tatata,” features American rapper Travis Scott and showcases a fusion of Brazilian funk and Afrobeat influences. With all of his last four albums earning Grammy nominations, expectations are high for the upcoming project.

As Burna Boy continues to break records and expand his global reach, his achievements serve as a testament to the growing influence of African artists in the international music scene.
