Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Asake has officially parted ways with YBNL Nation, the record label that played a pivotal role in his meteoric rise. Following the expiration of his contract, Asake chose not to renew his agreement with YBNL, opting instead to pursue an independent path in his music career.
Departure from YBNL Nation
Asake, born Ahmed Ololade, joined YBNL Nation in February 2022 under the mentorship of Nigerian rapper and label executive Olamide. During his tenure, he released several hit tracks, including “Omo Ope” featuring Olamide and “Sungba,” which significantly boosted his popularity. Despite Olamide’s efforts to renew the contract, Asake decided to embark on an independent journey, signaling this shift by removing “YBNL” from his social media bios and unfollowing all accounts on Instagram.
